Calling all gardeners!

The Fire Barn at Onondaga Park will be the first stop on the 2013 Historic Homes Tour in Strathmore on June 15th. On Wednesday, it was the gathering place for the Garden Club's plant exchange and meeting. Neighbors gathered to share a variety of plants including May Apple, Scented Geranium, Wild Ginger, Solomon's Seal, Hosta, Mint, Lily of the Valley, Myrtle, and more. In addition to the plant exchange, we shared news of Garden Club events including our speaker series, local garden tours, and guided tours of area greenhouses.

We also encouraged members to be part of the planning. Do you have an idea for a speaker? Do you have a garden or landscaping concern you would like to address? Do you have a lovely garden, or know one you think we should see? We would love to hear from you!  This blog is a community space where you can post pictures and articles, make comments, and share your success.

Next on our agenda is a June 1st guided tour of Baker's Acres in Groton, NY. They have a wide selection of perennials, annuals, shrubs, and trees.  Kendra's Cafe is on the grounds and we plan to have lunch there. As a group, we will receive a 10% discount on all of our purchases and our luncheon. We need at least 10 people to sign up for the tour. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Maggie (moconno3@twcny.rr.com) no later than Wednesday, May 29th. Please indicate whether you prefer to drive by yourself or carpool.
